I will motivate and introduce the functorial approach to topological quantum field theory, and then discuss "generalised orbifolds" in this setting. The orbifold construction unifies the gauging of symmetry groups with state sum models, and it has uncovered new dualities between 2-dimensional Landau-Ginzburg models. More recently the construction was expanded to arbitrary spacetime dimensions, with applications to Chern- Simons theory, Rozansky-Witten theory, and topological quantum computation.

Im Rahmen des Vortrages findet eine Lehrprobe zum Thema „Das Noether-Theorem in der klassischen Mechanik“ statt.
