Dominik Koll (Munich): AMS for Astrophysics and Environmental Physics at the Maier-Leibnitz-Laboratory

Since around 1980, experiments with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) are being performed at the tandem accelerator of the Maier-Leibnitz-Laboratory in Garching, Munich. Presently, with the Gas-filled Analyzing Magnet System (GAMS), a wide spectrum of AMS isotopes from light 36Cl over 60Fe to heavy 99Tc can be measured with highest sensitivity. Complementary to the GAMS setup, a time-of-flight (ToF) setup with passive absorbers and silicon detector(s) is available.
In this talk, recent projects like the development of a new detector for the ToF setup and the search for cosmogenic and supernova-produced isotopes in Antarctic snow with the GAMS setup will be presented. Furthermore, developments to implement AMS of fission fragments for environmental studies will be outlined.
