Gender Equality and Diversity
The University of Vienna is committed to equal and non-discriminatory interaction between its members (Code of Conduct, 2013). Since 2019, there has been a Women's Advancement and Equality Plan, which not only aims at equality of women and men, but also of people with disabilities and/or chronic illness. Respectful treatment of trans, intersex and non-binary persons is to be ensured as well.
Various offices and facilities have been established at the university to serve equal treatment (Equal Opportunities Working Party) and Culture and Equality (subunit at DLE Human Resources and Gender Equality), and to provide a free and confidential service for those affected by sexual harassment or bullying (Sexual Harassment & Bullying Counselling Office).
In addition to these central institutions for the advancement of women and equal treatment, a separate position for Gender Equality & Diversity was established at the Faculty of Physics in winter term 2022.
