Zsolt Fülöp (Hungary): Nuclear Astrophysics at Atomki

Donnerstag, 28. November 2024 16:30

Ort: Victor-Franz-Hess-Hörsaal, Währinger Str. 17, 1. Stock Kavalierstrakt

Atomki is a small nuclear physics research institute in Debrecen, Hungary, member of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network. Having several low energy particle accelerators organized into the so called Atomki Accelerator Centre (AAC) it was realized already in the nineties that the covered particle energy region provides an excellent opportunity for nuclear astrophysics experiments especially for the astrophysical p-process. The success of the nuclear astrophysics group is landmarked now by several EU-funds, including ERC and Trans National Access projects. Apart from presenting recent results of the group, two emerging fields will be also discussed, the accelerator based astrochemistry, and the laser induced particle production in collaboration with ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure), the first large scale infrastructure in Hungary.

A virtual tour to the Atomki laboratories is available at https://virtual.atomki.hu/
