Andreas Nunnenkamp’s research focuses on synthetic quantum many-body systems, aiming to understand and control complex quantum matter for future technologies.

Andreas Nunnenkamp investigates how quantum coherence can be created, controlled, and exploited in engineered many-body systems. Combining methods from quantum optics and condensed matter, and working closely with leading experimentalists, his research addresses experimentally relevant problems across platforms such as ultracold atoms, superconducting circuits, and optomechanical systems. By advancing topics including nonreciprocal many-body systems and dynamics of long-range interacting systems, his work bridges fundamental research and emerging technologies.
