The Faculty of Physics shines at "Teaching inspires 2025"

09.12.2025

Christos Likos and Marianne Korner were named Teaching Stars 2025. We are delighted to see this recognition of the strength of physics didactics and the quality of teaching at the faculty.

At the end of November, the University of Vienna awarded the "Teaching Star" for the second time – and the Faculty of Physics celebrated a special success. At the "Teaching inspires 2025" event, which took place on 28 November in both Ceremonial Halls of the University, innovative teaching concepts from ten faculties were presented. Among the 22 award-winning courses and 34 award-winning teachers, teachers from our faculty played an outstanding role.

The event focused on interaction, exchange and inspiration: visitors were able to participate in dialogue rounds, themed islands and a 'silent event' format to gain insights into creative approaches to university teaching. The audience was actively involved – the five finalists were chosen by live voting and presented their projects in short pitches.

Two teams from the faculty made it to the final:

  • Jürgen Klepp, Dieter Süss, Wilfried Schranz, Markus Mezger, Viktor Soprunyuk and Christian Rentenberger, supported by their tutors,
  • as well as Christos Likos and Marianne Korner with tutor Melisa Cirak, who were ultimately crowned Teaching Stars 2025 for their lecture "Theoretical physics I for teacher students".

Congratulations to the awardees!
