07.01.2026

Dr. Anne-Catherine de la Hamette and Dr. Sabri Koraltan were awarded the annual prize for best PhD thesis, given by the Faculty, during our Christmas Meeting.

One of the highlights of the Christmas Meeting of the Faculty is the award ceremony. This year, the committee selected the best dissertations defended during the period of October 2024 to September 2025. Two awardees were selected from the many excellent submissions:

  • Dr. Anne-Catherine de la Hamette for "Quantum Reference Frames: From Quantum Information to Spacetime", conducted under the supervision of Prof. Časlav Brukner. Anne-Catherine is currently a Junior Research Fellow at ETH Zürich's Institute for Theoretical Studies.
  • Dr. Sabri Koraltan for "Nonuniform magnetic spin textures for sensing, storage, and computing applications", done in the group of Prof. Dieter Süss. Sabri currently works in the group Physics of Three-Dimensional Nanomaterials at the TU Wien as a postdoctoral researcher.

Moreover, during the ceremony, other prizes were announced, such as the Dean’s List and several prizes from the VDSP.

We congratulate all awardees and wish everyone a successful 2026!
