The aim of the society is to promote and disseminate physical sciences in research, development, and education, to foster communication between Austrian physicists in all fields, and to represent them in society. The ÖPG, founded in 1950, consists of 12 sections and divisions. "I look forward to serving the Austrian Physical Society and, in particular, the wider condensed matter community, with the aim of strengthening the links between the excellent physicists," commented Andrii Chumak.
