A successful round of FWF funding for the Faculty of Physics

10.03.2026

Seven researchers from the Faculty have been awarded funding from the Austrian Research Fund (FWF) in their last funding round.

The diversity of research areas within the Faculty is reflected in these seven projects. From mathematical physics to computational soft matter physics, the FWF has awarded over two million euros to scientists working in the Faculty.

You can find an overview of all the awarded projects here:

  • Kimmo Mustonen: Nucleation and Melting Dynamics on 2D Surfaces
  • Harold Steinacker: Minimal covariant quantum spacetime in Matrix Theory
  • Jani Kotakoski: Atomic determination and generation of hBN quantum emitters
  • Liam Dylan Urban: Scattering near cosmological spacetimes
  • Zahra Ahmadian Dehaghani: Partially Active Polycatenanes
  • Toma Susi: New dimensions for atom manipulation (NUDAMA)
  • Dieter Süss: Magnetic Nanoparticles for Imaging and Hyperthermia

Congratulations to the successful researchers!
