Vortrag im Rahmen des University of Vienna Physics Colloquiums
I will review the theoretical and experimental developments that have shaped our understanding of the physics of the very early universe, beginning with the theoretical predictions made in the early 1980s and their precise confirmation through subsequent measurements of Cosmic Microwave Background fluctuations. I will also discuss widespread misconceptions about the interpretation of the theory and finally devote some time to common myths surrounding the multiverse, explaining why these speculative ideas are not well grounded from a theoretical point of view.
